This new category of Mindset Awards awards celebrates excellent Canadian journalism focused on addictions, whether related to substance use or in any other form. The jury will be looking in particular for work that advances understanding or addictions and related issues in the public interest and in accordance with the principles of the Mindset guide.

Free online applications open on February 16, 2026 and close on March 6, 2026. A link to the application form is available from the relevant rules page when the competition is open. Applications may be made by media organizations or by journalists responsible for the work.
